Akh(u)- The soul(s) of the blessed dead.
Anubis- ( ah NOO biss ) The Greco-Roman name for the Kemetic god, Yinepu.
Aset- ( AH set ) The quintessential mother, Wife of Wesir, Mother of Heru-sa-Aset; She represents the power behind kingship and was considered the most skilled being with regard to Heka ("magic"). See links page for further study.
Ba- One of the many manifestations of the human psyche considered to be the "soul." This particular manifestation, the ba, was that aspect which would leave the body to travel into the afterlife, be judged and either be eaten by Ammit or pass onto the afterlife to become an akh.
Bast- ( BAHST ) one of the Eyes of Ra, protectress of the Nisu and often depicted either as a lioness or a domesticated cat. See links page for further study.
Duat- the ancient Kemetic underworld.
Egypt- The name given to the country of Kemet by the Hellenes.
Hellenes- Known to most of the world as the Greeks.
Hellenic- Of or relating to the Hellenes
Heru- ( har ROO ) The falcon-headed netjer who was the embodiment of divine order and justice through the institution of Kingship; son of Aset and Wesir.
Hesat- ( Hess SAT ) The cow netjert of fertility and plenty who was eventually supplanted by HetHert.
HetHert- ( het HART ) The Kemetic netjert of the daytime sky, fertility, love and music; often depicted as a cow, a cow-headed woman or a woman with bovine ears.
Ka- The manifestation of the soul which would stay to receive the offerings left by family members, maintain the body and intercede on behalf of the living.
Kemet- The name used by the people who lived in the country and culture surrounding the Nile River to describe their land.
Kemetic- Of or relating to Kemet.
Kemetic Orthodoxy- The revival of the ancient religion of the ancient Egyptians' using both the scholastic resources of Egyptology and studies in comparitive traditional African religions.
Nebthet- ( NEBT het ) An obscure Kemetic goddess Who is the Sister of Aset and Wesir and the Wife of Set; She is closely associated with death and the afterlife.
Netjer(u)- the ancient Kemetic word for "god(s)."
Nisut-Bity- the Kemetic equivalent of Pharaoh as Pharaoh is a word of Hebrew origin.
Per- literally meaning, "House," but often refers to the House of a Netjer, therefore more at: temple.
Theogony- the account of origin and descent of the gods.
Ra- ( RA ) The supreme netjer, King of the Gods, and Creator of the Created Universe; First Nisu of Kemet and whose embodiment/barque is the sun, itself.
Sekhmet- ( sekh MET ) One of the netjert titled as the Eye of Ra, closely associated with HetHert and once nearly dessimated the whole of humanity. She is often depicted as a lioness-headed woman and was prayed to heal sickness and disease.
Set- ( SET ) The netjer of the deserts, necessary, but destructive chaos and of storms who serves as the antagonist of Heru in the Wesirian Cult. See links page for further study.
Wesir- ( WEH zeer ) The netjer of fertility and the dead; supplanted Yinepu as the Lord of the Underworld, Husband of Aset and Father to Heru-sa-Aset.
